Wojtek Klimeks paintings mostly depict urban landscapes in which figures are shown in seemingly everyday situations. By playing with light, arrangement and rearrangement of the composition with various picture elements often torn from their original context, he creates mysterious and surreal scenarios. Mixing opposites, arranging and merging different landscape elements from various locations and countries with things painted from his imagination, Klimek infuses the pictures with an unreal vibrancy.
His artworks in acrylic and oil represent melancholic image content, frozen and unfree figures in an indeterminate landscape. The pictures often show urban landscapes and the loneliness of modern man trapped in a dark, real world. His works are characterized by an effective combination of surreal and realistic elements, as well as shapes and inspirations from other cultures. Since 2012, he lives and works in Zurich.
