When Art Meets Beauty And Human Nature

Every day we are confronted with hundreds of images, sometimes without even noticing it. Advertisement in the streets, facebook and Instagram images online, and photographs in magazines and newspapers, all influence our perception of the world. Nevertheless, only few photographs reflect true reality it. Thanks to Photoshop and other post-production programs, it is possible to modify every pixel on the screen or even to create completely new images out of nothing.

In her exhibition ‘Beauties’, Ina Dederer highlights the fakeness of the created ideal of beauty and perfection promoted by the medias.  With her unique posterized technique applied to oil painting, the artist captures the beauty of female celebrities and models but also shows that in fact, although beautiful, they are not as perfect as they seem to be.

Ina Dederer is a painter with Russian roots currently living in Zürich. She creates her paintings in her studios in Spain, Monaco and Switzerland. Ina developed her own painting style over many years as a pop artist, inspired by painters like Warhol, Maltzman, Richter and Picasso.
