ALEXEY GONZALEZ CUBAS
Alexey Cubas, born in Cuba, moved to Zurich in 2014. His work is an intensive examination of life. Inspired by contrasts, as those, for example between his native country and his new home Switzerland, or migration and integration, he expresses himself with emotional and intuitive large-format paintings. All of his paintings show these contrasts, often from an aerial view of earth and sea, transposed in a personal and abstract way.
The viewer is challenged with a different view of the Caribbean island: A nation on the move – breaking away from the clichés.
